Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed During Trial

March 2023

Our client was arrested for attempted murder, possession of an illegal assault rifle and resisting arrest when LAPD showed up at his residence. He was held on bail in the amount of $2,000,000. Ultimately, the District Attorney referred the matter to the City Attorney’s office who filed multiple charges of domestic violence, possession of an illegal assault weapon and resisting arrest. At the time of trial, the City Attorney sought to proceed without their victim. The defense filed multiple motions seeking to preclude any testimony or videos of the victim’s 911 call or interviews on body worn video. The court ruled in favor of the defense essentially gutting the domestic violence charges. As a result, our client entered a plea to two non-domestic violence related charges and was placed on 12 months of summary probation.
