Charges Dismissed Based on Failure to Timely Prosecute

Michael’s client was charged with drug offenses dating back to June 2018. Charges were not filed until October 2018 and the client was not notified of the charges until 2024 when her probation officer in an unrelated felony matter threatened to violate her probation. Our offices filed a motion to dismiss the charges based on the delay in prosecution and violation of her right to a speedy trial. A hearing was held on the motion and the court granted the motion which resulted in the dismissal of all charges.
