Probationary Sentence in Attempted Murder & Mayhem Prosecution

Los Angeles Superior Court (February 2019)  Michael A. Goldstein’s client, a well-known artist, was charged with attempted murder and mayhem based on the assault of a man he discovered in a compromising situation with his ex-girlfriend of many years.  After submitting a comprehensive bail motion and securing release on bond, our client remained out of custody for more than a year.   After more than 18 months of litigating relevant legal issues including provocation and lesser offenses, Michael prepared and filed a comprehensive mitigation package which included a proposal of full restitution and probation.  After a meeting with a Head Deputy and assigned DA, the District Attorney’s office graciously agreed to a probation disposition which resulted in time served for our client and full restitution to the victim.   Per Michael, “this was undoubtedly one of the most emotionally taxing and rewarding dispositions reached in 23 years of practice.”  Both my client and the victim will move on and pursue their careers.
